Massachusetts has some of the oldest housing in the country, and plenty of Nantucket homes are still carrying current on wire installed before the war. OSB rewires houses in stages so you keep living in yours while the work runs.
“Bought an EV and had no idea what my panel could handle. They did the load calculation, told me straight that I had room, and installed the charger two days later.”
“Sparking outlet in the nursery. They came out the same evening, replaced it, and checked every other outlet on that circuit for free.”
“The dispatcher actually understood what I was describing on the phone and told me which breaker to shut off before they arrived.”
Rewiring is priced by circuit count, square footage and access. A small Nantucket home may be a five-figure project; a partial rewire of a kitchen and bath is a fraction of that. We walk the house and quote flat.
Almost never. We work zone by zone so you keep power, heat and a working kitchen through the job.
Existing knob-and-tube isn't automatically illegal, but it can't be extended, it has no ground, and insurers increasingly won't write a policy over it. That's why most Nantucket owners replace it.
Less than you expect. We fish cable through bays, closets and chases and cut small, patchable access points rather than opening whole walls.
Yes. Partial rewires are extremely common in Nantucket — kitchens, bathrooms and second floors are the usual starting points.
