Massachusetts has some of the oldest housing in the country, and plenty of Yarmouth Port homes are still carrying current on wire installed before the war. OSB rewires houses in stages so you keep living in yours while the work runs.
“Breaker had been tripping for months and two other companies just replaced parts. OSB traced it to a backstabbed outlet behind a bookcase in twenty minutes.”
“Six recessed lights in the kitchen and a dimmer that actually works. The ceiling patch was so small I didn't need a painter.”
“Storm took out our power for four days last winter. This year we have a standby generator that started itself while we were asleep.”
Rewiring is priced by circuit count, square footage and access. A small Yarmouth Port home may be a five-figure project; a partial rewire of a kitchen and bath is a fraction of that. We walk the house and quote flat.
Almost never. We work zone by zone so you keep power, heat and a working kitchen through the job.
Existing knob-and-tube isn't automatically illegal, but it can't be extended, it has no ground, and insurers increasingly won't write a policy over it. That's why most Yarmouth Port owners replace it.
Less than you expect. We fish cable through bays, closets and chases and cut small, patchable access points rather than opening whole walls.
Yes. Partial rewires are extremely common in Yarmouth Port — kitchens, bathrooms and second floors are the usual starting points.
