If your Melrose home still runs on a fuse box, a 60 or 100 amp service, or a panel brand that insurers flag, an upgrade is the single biggest electrical improvement you can make. OSB handles the permit, the utility coordination and the swap.
“Called at 11pm when half the house went dark and an outlet was making a noise I'd never heard before. Someone was at the door in under an hour and had it isolated before midnight.”
“Whole-house LED retrofit across our warehouse. Our lighting bill dropped and you can finally read labels on the top rack.”
“Office fit-out on a tight deadline. They worked around our contractor, hit every date, and the inspection passed first time.”
A straightforward 100 to 200 amp upgrade in Melrose usually lands in the low thousands. Cost moves with mast height, meter location, grounding work and whether the utility needs to reset the drop. You get a flat quote before we start.
Most Melrose panel swaps are a single day, with power off for part of it. Larger service upgrades that need utility scheduling can run into a second day.
Yes — service and panel work is permitted and inspected in Massachusetts. OSB files the paperwork and meets the inspector so you don't have to chase it.
For nearly every single-family home, yes — including one EV charger, a heat pump and an induction range. Very large homes or two EVs sometimes justify 320/400 amp service.
Regularly. Fuse-to-breaker conversions are one of the most common jobs we run in older Melrose housing stock.
